Late Night's At Office

Well one thing which we quite often experience while working in a MNC is the late night shifts.

It’s nearing to 12:06 PM and am still at my desk, in front of the "Thinking machine"(I call my PC like that) and desperately trying to finish of my tasks. Sadly have I noticed that am all alone in the room, with all my fellow colleagues leaving long time before.

While I am all alone (waiting for an onshore call) I think, what's there between the late nights and all the software professionals.

A thought to think over, how many times one have tried to leave home on time as soon as the two hands of the clocks meet each other at midnight.I had always been a workaholic, apart from being addicted to a number of things besides work.

Don’t know whether it’s the case with every other Indian guy or maybe it’s one of the perceptions of mine, but had always noticed that with us even before the actual work starts we jump on to a task and commit our almost dedication to it.

On the other hand, I see the Onshore people work in a altogether different way (not saying because am waiting still for the onshore call). They are relaxed, calm in their work. They seem to enjoy their work and their weekend time off to.

This makes me think, would I be able to skip such a situation sometimes and would say no when someone ask me to do a certain task.I guess not.

So the question arises. Why do we slog like this? Why do we always in a race against tight deadlines?
Well what I think of this is this. When a particular task is been assign to person the time allotted to the complete the particular task is shortened beforehand.

In a way it’s a safe plan as we are planning against unknown risks but this can fail sometime due to difference in people from here and onshore.

While there is another set of troubled person who thinks "What will people think about my abilities if I say I require more time to get done with a task?"

So sometimes they put it extra efforts and hours to avoid this sort of arising questions in front of them.

We all know there is a problem, but it’s the same thing again "Who will tie the bell to a cat" All that said and done, as I decide to finish off this and my day at work.. Ask yourself.. "Why do you slog at office?? “
